Before we started A Welcome Boost, we worked in the corporate world. That experience gave us a valuable insight into customers’ and clients’ needs and behaviors. Our specialty is to take the key lessons from those large businesses and pass them on to our colleagues operating with smaller budgets.
Too often, we have found, small business owners assume they have a pulse on customers’ wants and needs. Almost as often, those assumptions have shuttered a lot of those businesses. Marketing not only requires customized promotions, it also requires research. Although some businesses may not have a super-sized marketing research budget their growth is enhanced by research. Business owners should understand their customers, competitors, and the marketplace. However, we’ve found that some research can be as easy and free as an online customer service survey.
Marketing also requires the development of strategies to act on such research. We’ve produced both simple and complex marketing strategies for our clients. In the larger, conglomerate business world, there are separate departments for marketing, communications, publicity and public relations. They really are separate specialties.
In SMED (small to medium-sized) businesses, marketing functions are often lumped together. To say that we are specialists in each of those areas would be an exaggeration and somewhat disrespectful to the people who are. Yet, we know enough. We’re not shy about asking for help, either. More than that, we welcome a challenge and love to make our clients shine!
We have experience with a wide variety of media. We’re social media savvy and leaders, having set up and maintained dozens of sites for friends, organizations and businesses.
